Davidson Extends Lead In The Sam's Town Invitational

LAS VEGAS, NV - Dede Davidson, Las Vegas, Nev., averaged 242,87 to extend her lead in the Sam's Town Invitational at Sam's Town Bowling Center in Las Vegas, Nev., Friday afternoon. Davidson won all eight matches and had high games of 276, 265, 256, 247, and 245 to lead by 193 pins over Aleta Sill of Dearborn, Michigan. Sill averaged 244.62, won seven matches and bowled a 300 in her first match to hold the second spot.
All of the top five were able to hold their positions: Tiffany Stanbrough, Oklahoma City, Okla, third; Tish Johnson, Northridge, Calif., fourth; and Cara Honeychurch, Melbourne, Australia, fifth. Stanbrough won seven matches and averaged 236.5, Johnson won six of eight and averaged 247.62, and Honeychurch won six matches and averaged 227.12.
The top 24 will return at 4:00 p.m. to bowl the last round of match play. The field will then be cut to the top 5 which will advance to the televised finals on Saturday to be taped at 11:00 a.m. and will air on Monday, November 13, on ESPN2 at 8:00 p.m. (Eastern). Following the step-ladder finals is a special Storm Shootout event between 70', 80's, & 90's Bowler of the Decades and the top five in competition points for 2000 scheduled at 2:00 p.m. The Storm Shootout match has a prize fund of $25,000. The Shootout will air on ESPN2 on Thursday, November 23, on ESPN2 at 1:00 p.m. (Eastern).
