LAS VEGAS, NV - DeDe Davidson, Las Vegas, Nev., averaged 234 for eight games to hold the lead in the second round of qualifying in the Sam's Town Invitational at Sam's Town Bowling Center in Las Vegas, Nev., Tuesday afternoon. Davidson had high games of 278, 258, 235, and 233 to lead the field by 111 pins. Yesterday, Davidson broke the record for an eight game block with a 2055 pin total. Today, Davidson broke her own record of 3,866 set in 1998 for sixteen games in a 56 game tournament with a 3927 pin total.

"I started off a little slow today compared to yesterday," said Davidson. "The lanes were a little dryer so I switched to a polished ball the last three games which proved to make a difference in my scores."

Aleta Sill, Dearborn, Mich., averaged 243.75, shot games 297, 289, 259, 245, and 243 to move into second from the fourth spot. In the third and fourth positions are Cara Honeychurch, Melbourne, Australia and Tish Johnson, Northridge, Calif. Honeychurch averaged 230.75 and Johnson 240.62. Carolyn Dorin-Ballard, N. Richland Hills, Tex., dropped two spots into fifth.

The lady professionals return Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. to bowl the third round of qualifying.
