The victory is Davidson's 6th career title and her first win in two years.

"I'm tickled to death," exclaimed Davidson. "I'm tired of finishing second. I filled my thoughts with positive affirmations today. I kept telling myself all day; I'm going to win."

The opening three-way shootout match started with Michelle Mullen, Chicago, Ill., Anne Marie Duggan, Edmond, Okla., and Michelle Feldman, Skaneateles, NY. Mullen and Duggan were looking for their first wins of the year and Feldman her fourth. Duggan smashed the pocket leaving the 10 pin losing the match. Feldman defeated Mullen and Duggan 233-229-201 advancing to the semi-final match earning the right to face DeDe Davidson, Las Vegas, Nev.

The semi-final match was even for two frames until Davidson struck in the third and fourth frames taking a twenty pin lead. Davidson kept the lead through the match leading by as many as twenty nine pins. Feldman was able to get back into the match throwing three in a row taking her to the tenth. Davidson closed the match with a strike and a spare giving Feldman a chance to win. Needing a double and a 9 count to win. Feldman found herself in the same position as Duggan in the first match when the 10 pin failed to fall losing the match by 19 pins.

In the championship match, Davidson faced first seed Leanne Barrette, Pleasanton, Calif. Both Davidson and Barrette were looking for their first wins of the year. Davidson took control of the championship match starting with a spare and throwing five consecutive strikes taking a 30 pin lead after six frames. Davidson opened the door by leaving the 6-7-10 split in the ninth frame but quickly closed it when she struck out in the tenth to take the title 234-214.

"The key to my success this week was taking last week off," commented Davidson. "I kept my rhythm, and was more relaxed then I have been in a long time, I also wore my dad's ring around my neck for luck."
