General format and editorial requirements:
- Ads must clearly and accurately represent your site. The logo or name of the web site of which they are advertising must be included.
- Only high-quality, family-safe images which are relevant to your advertised concepts and products will be accepted. We strongly recommend that you also include some descriptive text and a call to action to reinforce your ad's message.
- BowlingFans.com will not accept any advertisements that mislead our users or 'Trick to click'. This includes ads which simulate a cursor arrow moving and clicking on the ad. Ads may not pretend to be a system or site warning, mimic or resemble Windows/Mac/Unix dialogue boxes or error messages, prompt to initiate or stop automatic downloads, or mock animated features, such as drop down menus or search boxes, unless the functionality actually works.
- Any click-throughs that result in a "trap door" effect - i.e. traps users in advertisers' site(s) or traps users in multiple-jump pages - are not permitted.
- We do not allow links to landing pages that generate pop-ups when users enter or leave your landing page. We consider a pop-up to be any window, regardless of content, that opens in addition to the original window.
- Strobing or distracting ads and flashing backgrounds are not allowed.
- All images must be clear and recognizable. Text appearing in the ad images must be legible.
- Standard image or animated .GIF Ad requirements:
- All images must be in a .JPEG, .GIF, or .PNG format. Animated .GIF images are accepted.
- Alternative text may be up to 50 characters (including spaces and punctuation.)
- Graphic images must be placed on our servers to ensure page loads are not delayed.
- HTML, Flash or Shockwave Ad requirements:
- Any action beyond the banner (i.e. audio, expansion, pop-up window) must be initiated by user click.
- Pull down menus and text should leave ample space to accommodate all reasonable browser settings. Method attribute for any forms must be "get" (not "post")
- Form tags should be placed between the open <table> tag and the first <tr> The close form tag should be placed between the last </tr> and </table> tags. Example:
<table border="0" width="728" height="90" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
<form method="get" action="http://yourdomain.old/cgi-bin/goscript.cfm">
<tr>
...
- If audio is used, creative must include a mute button or automatic on/off toggler.
- All audio must be click-initiated by the user.
- Audio may not exceed 15 seconds.
- No third party serving of the HTML or scripts (no IFRAMES.) Flash files and any graphics must be placed on our servers to ensure page loads are not delayed.
- Form target CGI or PHP scripts must reside on client's server (not BowlingFans.com)
- Javascript, CSS, and dHTML: All must work or degrade well on Microsoft Internet Explorer 4+ and Netscape Communicator 4+. The content must be constrained to the dimensions of the ad.
