Tour411 - Cool stuff about your favorite Pros!

-Norm Duke Now No. 1

10/11/2000 - PBA
Parker Bohn III's victory last year in Canandaigua, N.Y., allowed him to overtake Walter Ray Williams Jr. as the No. 1 player in the PBA's Computer Power Rankings. Now, not quite one year later, Bohn has lost the No. 1 ranking to Norm Duke. Bohn finished 36th at this year's Track Canandaigua Open at Roseland Bowl and Duke finished 11th. Duke now has 1,604 ranking points to Bohn's 1,580. It marks the second time in his career that Duke has ascended to the top of the rankings. Former No. 1 Walter Ray Williams Jr. used his win this year in Canandaigua to move from No. 5 to No. 3 (1,498). Ryan Shafer is ranked fourth (1,472) and Jason Couch is fifth (1,456). Rounding out the top 10 are Chris Barnes (1,387), Patrick Healey Jr. (1,105), Danny Wiseman (1,103), Ricky Ward (1,087) and Tim Criss (1,076). It should be noted that Bohn's recent win at the Japan Cup does not count toward the rankings since the Japan Cup is an invitational event.

-Roger Workman Sets Senior Tour Earnings Record

10/11/2000 - PBA
Roger Workman's win at the recently completed Gastonia (N.C.) Senior Classic earned him $8,000 and pushed his yearly earnings to $139,075. That total established a new PBA Senior Tour single-season earnings record, beating the previous record of $137,190 set by Dave Soutar last year. Heading into the Brunswick Senior National Championship, Workman was the only senior to have won more than once this year. His earnings total includes the $100,000 value of the home he won at The Villages as part of his title at The Villages Senior World Championship (Soutar collected the same prize for winning the event in 1999). Workman will look to add to his record total in the final two events of the year in Jackson, Mich., and Hammond, Ind.

-Eric Forkel Returns To Competition

10/11/2000 - PBA
Eric Forkel returned to PBA competition at a PBA Western Region event in El Monte, Calif., Sept. 29-Oct. 1. Forkel, who suffered head and back injuries after falling from the roof of his house in April, bowled well enough to finish 10th. The five-time champion and winner of the 1992 PBA National Championship is expected to return to competition on the NationalTour at the Brunswick Johnny Petraglia Open at Brunswick Carolier Lanes in North Brunswick, N.J., Oct. 14-17.

-Bohn Sets Record In Japan

10/11/2000 - PBA
Not only did Parker Bohn III tie a PBA record by winning the Japan Cup three consecutive years, but he also established a record by leading that event four years in a row. Bohn led the tournament in 1997, only to lose the title to Doug Kent. He followed that performance by leading the event in 1998, 1999 and 2000, winning the championship each of those years. He becomes the only player to lead the same event four consecutive years. Recent Tour411 Updates:
