Three-Time Champion Aulby First 2002 ABC Masters Entrant
10/01/2001 - Bowling Newsline
Three-time American Bowling Congress Masters champion Mike Aulby has made a career of finishing first. So, it was no surprise when the ABC and Professional Bowlers Association Hall of Famer was the first to enter the 2002 Masters slated Jan. 16-20 at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev.
Now one of the PBA's four major events, ABC will guarantee a record $350,000 prize fund ($100,000 to the winner and $50,000 to the runner-up). The top 100 places will earn a minimum of $1,000.
The Masters has moved from its traditional home at the ABC Tournament site for the first time so that it can be part of the PBA Tour televised by ESPN.
The Masters will continue to be sanctioned and conducted by ABC. The tournament's unique qualifying and double-elimination match play format will remain unchanged. It will continue to be open to all pros and non-pros who meet the Masters entry requirements.
The 2002 Masters will be able to accommodate more than 600 bowlers. For Masters entry information, call (800) 514-BOWL, Ext. 3415 or visit bowl.com and click on the ABC tab.
