PBA Hall Of Famer Marshall Holman Makes Rare ABC Tournament Appearance
03/12/2001 - Bowling Headquarters
Professional Bowlers Association Hall of Famer Marshall Holman hadn't bowled in the American Bowling Congress Championships Tournament since 1976 but all that changed March 4-5 at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev., when he appeared with friends from his home in Medford, Ore.
"This was only the third time in my life that I've ever bowled the team event. It would have been more enjoyable if we didn't bowl so late at night," said the 22-time pro champion. "but it's always fun to be with my friends. We just do the best we can and nobody gets upset if they don't bowl well.
"My first game was a 147 last night," Holman said. "I didn't get a mark on the right lane until the ninth frame." The retired pro came up with 197 in the second game and found his form in the final game for 235, ending up as high man on the team with his 579 series.
