George Freeman's Expert Bowling Tips:

-Styles Of Play
6/12/2000 - By George Freeman
There are about as many styles of play as there are bowlers, we all know that. You have spinners, tweeners, crankers, full rollers, and just about every other type in between. Is there a perfect style? No way. People are too individual for there to be one perfect style of play, and that is one of the things that makes our sport special. Certain types of styles adhere very well to certain types of lane conditions, but the key is to try to be workable on as many lane conditions as you can. This way, if you find something that isn't your "bread and butter" shot, you won't be left out in the cold. But how do you do this?

First, when you go to practice, don't play in the track area. Play somewhere you don't usually play, even if that is not where the best shot is. The idea of practice is not to try to score as high as you can, but to work on different things to incorporate into your game. All too often I see bowlers come in to practice, only to watch them doing the same things they do in league...folks, practice is for practice, not for shooting a 300 game. Hopefully the 300 game will come FROM practice, not DURING practice.

Just remember, practice is invaluable, it is a place where you can make mistakes and not have them cost you. So go practice, and practice smart. :)
