Meet George Freeman
Hi, I'm George Freeman. I've been bowling since I was five years old, so my whole life has pretty much been involved with bowling. To me, bowling is a universal sport. Anyone can do it: kids, adults, senior citizens--heck, if I can do it, ANYONE can do it. I've met some very fine people and been to some incredible places thanks to this sport. I'm 29 years old, and I live in Melbourne, Florida. When I'm not bowling, I play tennis (poorly), golf (even worse), and I read (I'm pretty good at that). I grew up watching the Pro Bowler's Tour on Saturday afternoons on ABC, and all I ever wanted was to be like Earl Anthony or Mark Roth. I may never get to that level, but so far I'm enjoying the journey.
In 1993, I finally joined the PBA. Two people I admire tremendously are Tom Blasco and Sam Zurich. Tom Blasco is my coach and friend of 13+ years; he's THE best coach anyone could ask for. Without his insight and knowledge, I never would have gotten to the level I'm at. Sam Zurich is the all-time leading regional title holder in the PBA--at last count he had 34+ titles (I put the plus because it's bound to go up). My very first regional I bowled was in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and it just so happened that I crossed with him. Talk about nervous, but he helped me tremendously during that tournament. And since I've learned by his example what it means to be a professional.
