-Feldman Maintains Lead In The Greater Harrisburg Open

10/23/2000 - PWBA
MECHANICSBURG, PA - Michelle Feldman, Skaneateles, NY, averaged 233.33 to maintain the lead in the Greater Harrisburg Open at ABC Lanes West in Mechanicsburg, PA, Monday evening. Feldman had high games of 263, 234, 229, 225, and a low game of 220 to take the lead by 8 pins over Anne Marie Duggan of Edmond, Okla. Duggan shot 279, 258, 278 her last three games of qualifying for an 815 set and averaged 244.33 to move three spots into second. Duggan became the first woman bowler at ABC Lanes to shoot the honor score of 800.

"I barely held onto the lead, " Feldman remarked. "Anne Marie bowled great tonight. She almost caught me the last three games. I'm happy with how I bowled tonight. I played the lanes similar to today and was able to average about the same as earlier. I think going home this weekend has helped me. It took my mind off of bowling for a few days and it has given me a fresh start."

Tammy Turner, Akron, Ohio, had games of 258, 245, 238, 235, and averaged 231.33 to move into the top five into third. In the fourth and fifth positions are Leanne Barrette, Pleasanton, Calif., and Liz Johnson, Niagara Falls, NY. Barrette averaged 215.66 and Johnson 232.33 moving 13 spots into fifth.

The field of 53 return Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. for the last round of qualifying. The field will then be cut to the top 24 for three rounds of match play.

The lady professionals are on their seventh stop of a ten-week Fall Tour swing finishing with two majors, The Players Championship in Rockford, Illinois and The Sam's Town Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev.

-Feldman Leads First Round In The Greater Harrisburg Open

10/23/2000 - PWBA
MECHANICSBURG, PA - Michelle Feldman, Skaneateles, NY, averaged 234 for six games to take the first round lead in the Greater Harrisburg Open at ABC Lanes West in Mechanicsburg, PA, Monday afternoon. Feldman had high games of 268, 247, 246, 244, and 218 to take the lead by 32 pins over Kim Terrell of Daly City, Calif. Terrell averaged 228.67 to claim the second position.

"I think I'm going to miss the practice session for now on," said Feldman jokingly. "This is the second time I missed practice and led the first round. Seriously, I had a good shot, the lanes seemed tight and tonight I'm going to play the same line because they really didn't break down for me today."

Leanne Barrette, Pleasanton, Calif., averaged 227 to move into third while Shana Ray of Corpus Christi, Texas, bowled a 300 her fifth game to help her move into fourth. Tied for the fifth position is Anne Marie Duggan, Edmond, Okla., and Michelle Mullen, Chicago, Ill.

The lady professionals return Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. to bowl the second round of qualifying and will bowl the last round of qualifying at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The field will then be cut to the top 24 and will bowl head-to-head match play rounds starting Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and will continue through Wednesday.
