-WIBC Annual Meeting Expected To Have Highest Percentage Of Delegate Attendance In Seven Years

01/28/2003 - Bowling Newsline
GREENDALE, Wis. - The Women's International Bowling Congress announced that this year's WIBC Annual Meeting may have the highest percentage of delegates attending since 1996, when the meeting was held in Buffalo, N.Y. The 2003 Annual Meeting will be held April 28-30 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nev.

"We are very pleased with the high return of credentials which indicates there will be a big turnout in Reno for the Annual Meeting," said WIBC Executive Director Roseann Kuhn. "This is a historic meeting for us, one that will chart our future in the sport of bowling."

More than 3,600 delegates have pre-registered to attend the meeting, including five delegates from foreign countries. This total represents 57 percent of the total eligible WIBC delegates, who are elected to represent their local bowling associations. It compares to nearly 3,450 pre-registered delegates (53 percent) of the total eligible delegates for 2002 in Milwaukee.

At the Annual Meeting, WIBC delegates will be voting on a motion to rescind the 2002 delegate action to delay the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) vote until 2004. If that motion is approved, the WIBC delegation will vote on the USBC proposal April 29.

The USBC is a movement to merge bowling's membership organizations into one single membership organization. The WIBC, American Bowling Congress, Young American Bowling Alliance and USA Bowling boards of directors have already approved the plan of merger.
