GREENDALE, Wis. - The Women's International Bowling Congress announced dates for its 2004 Queens and Senior Queens Tournaments in Wichita, Kan. Both tournaments will open May 15 and run through May 19.
New for the 2004 Queens and Senior Queens Tournaments will be weekend qualifying, which will be held on Saturday, May 15, and Sunday, May 16. In previous tournaments, qualifying was held on Monday and Tuesday.
"Weekend qualifying will make it more convenient for bowlers to enter the tournament," said WIBC Tournament Director Ruth Williams. "It will cut down on the number of weekdays that entrants will have to be away from their homes and jobs."
Northrock Lanes hosts the WIBC Queens Tournament while the WIBC Senior Queens will be held at Thunderbird Lanes as the WIBC makes its first appearance in Wichita. The 2004 WIBC Queens Tournament is sponsored by Reno's Tri-Properties (Eldorado, Silver Legacy and Circus Circus).
"Our members will truly enjoy the Wichita area, its great bowling centers and its wonderful people," said WIBC Executive Director Roseann Kuhn. "We look forward to working with the Wichita Women's Bowling Association, the two bowling centers and the Wichita Convention and Visitors Bureau to make this event a great success."
The 2003 WIBC Queens, sponsored by Reno's Tri-Properties (Eldorado, Silver Legacy and Circus Circus), will be held April 7-11 at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev., and is the first stop on the Professional Women's Bowling Association's ESPN 2 televised spring tour. The WIBC Queens tournament is open to all WIBC members, amateur and professional, and offers the opportunity to bowl with some of the greatest women in our sport.
The 2003 WIBC Senior Queens is sponsored by Storm Products, Inc., and also is scheduled for April 7-11 at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno. For members age 55 and older, the 2003 event will mark the fourth year of the fast growing tournament which originated in Reno in 2000.
