-Gail Conner Wins Grand Prize In 2001 PWBA Bowlers Club Sweepstakes

01/08/2002 - PWBA
ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS - For Gail Conner Christmas came twice in 2001. The 59-year old native from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania won the $5,000 grand prize in the 2001 PWBA Bowlers Club Sweepstakes.

"I can't believe it," said Conner. "I've never won anything in my life. In fact, I signed up for the Bowlers Club so long ago I didn't even remember there was a grand prize giveaway."

Selected from a random drawing on Christmas Eve, Conner was chosen as the grand prize winner from more than 1,000 club member entrees.

An avid bowler and member of the Women's International Bowling Congress for over 30 years, Conner joined the PWBA Bowlers Club last March. As a part of her membership she received an official PWBA Tour Guide, a membership card, entitlement to PWBA merchandise discounts, a limited edition photo of the top five PWBA players and an entry for daily $100 prize giveaways and the grand prize.

"When I joined the Bowlers Club it was mainly to support the women's tour. I watch the PWBA telecasts every week and have been following the tour for several years. I never thought about the prize money."

Conner, who bowls in a league at the Boulevard Lanes in Philadelphia and boasts a 172 average, plans to put her new-found fortune toward home improvements and her four grandchildren.

"I was planning on doing some work on the house. I guess now I have a way to pay for everything I want to get done."

The 2002 PWBA Bowler's Club, which will again include cash giveaways and a $5,000 grand prize, will begin on March 1st. Interested members can sign up online at or by calling the PWBA office at (815) 332-5756.
