***** Chat with the Pros Featuring Steve Jaros *****
Mark your calendars for Friday, April 9, 1999. That's when Grandstand Bowling proudly presents Chat with the Pros featuring PBA Champion, Steve Jaros. In mid-February, Steve became the 13th PBA player to shoot 300 in a televised finals, but before the show aired, the videotape was deemed "not broadcast quality." In the wee hours of April 7th (see telecast schedule below), the Chattanooga will finally air, and that Friday, Steve will be our guest to talk about his career and the telecast that almost wasn't! Check Bowling Forum (Available to AOL Members Only) for links and information to this very special chat.
***** Grandstand Bowling Introduces Longer Chats *****
There's nothing worse than having a great group of chatters just get going and then the time slot is over. Now thanks to suggestions from folks who frequent the Bowling Area, Grandstand Bowling is rolling out 2-hour chats. For a schedule of hosts and times, look to Bowling Chat (Available to AOL Members Only)!
***** Topic of the Week *****
Each week Grandstand Bowling posts a Topic of the Week in our Message Area (Available to AOL Members Only). Be sure to check out the Topic of the Week Folder (Available to AOL Members Only) and let your opinion be heard!
*** PBA ***
***** Chattanooga Open to Air *****
The PBA and ESPN have finally created a "broadcast quality" videotape of the Chattanooga Open, and have announced that the telecast will air in its entirety on Wednesday, April 7th, at 3:30 AM ET. Set your VCRs Tuesday night for a telecast that will go down in history as the telecast that almost wasn't! Visit PBA Tour for more details.
***** TV Schedule/Seibel and Holman Return *****
Tape Delayed from February 13
Airs April 7
3:30 AM ET
Empire State Open
Airs Apr 17
2:00 PM ET
The PBA and CBS Sports return with 10 live telecasts featuring the duo of Gary Seibel and PBA Hall of Famer Marshall Holman in the announcer's booth during the PBA's Spring/Summer Tour. Seibel was the play-by-play guy during last year's CBS Sports' inaugural run with the PBA Tour. Holman does color commentary for both CBS last year and the winter swing with Phil Ferguson. Ferguson covered the play-by-play on ESPN, and was a welcome relief to the missed calls of other announcer/nonbowlers. Here's hoping when the PBA returns to ESPN, Ferguson returns as well.
***** Rudy Revs Making the Media Rounds *****
This month's Esquire Magazine and the April 1st edition of the national newspaper USA Today both feature PBA member Rudy Kasimakis. The USA TODAY article can be accessed for a $1 fee at their website.
