***** Grandstand Bowling Pages Update *****
The Festival of Bowling has wrapped up, and as promised the Bowling Forum documented the event with pictures. The Grandstand Bowling Pages site has been updated, and pictures of the festivities are now featured.
The Grandstand Bowling Pages are accessible to everyone at http://hometown.aol.com/gshomespc1/indoor_sports/bowling.htm
***** The Right Approach Offers Holiday Bowling-Gift Ideas *****
This week the Bowln Diva talks about gift ideas for bowlers in "The Right Approach" column. Read this week's issue (and back issues if you've missed a few) at The Right Approach (Available to AOL Members Only) in the Member's Newsstand.
***** Tip of the Week *****
George Freeman concentrates on the lower half this week:
Like most sports, power from bowling comes from your legs, not your upper body. Being able to get low to the ground and maintaining proper balance are paramount for a well-executed shot. Without a good foundation, the house will crumple. The more you can get out of your legs, the more you'll get out of your game.

***** Eight to Bowl on PBA TV Finals *****
The PBA will start 2000 with a new TV format. Fans have seen it only once before at the All-Star Classic last June. The first match will have bowlers seeded six, seven, and eight bowling with the winner moving on to face seeds four and five. The winner of that match faces bowlers two and three, with the winner facing the top seed.

***** Jason Couch Named BWAA Bowler of the Month *****
The Bowling Writers Association of America unanimously chose Jason Couch Bowler of the Month for November. A select panel of the organization votes for this honor.
Couch won both the Bay City Classic and the prestigious Brunswick World Tournament of Champions in November.
Wendy Macpherson, was runner-up for her Sam's Town Invitational win.
***** Japan Cup to Air in U.S. on December 11 *****
Mark your calendars for December 11, at 5:30 PM ET. The final PBA telecast of the year airs on ESPN when the Japan Cup (originally contested in September) finally airs.

Folks at the Bowling Forum are celebrating. While the results are still unofficial, it looks as though our very own GSTD Maul (George Freeman) will be getting a few checks back. Congratulations also to GSTD Rage for organizing 5 teams out of the 972 participating in this year's inaugural Festival of Bowling. We hope to see more folks in Reno next year.

***** Elf Bowling Gets Dubious Distinction *****
An Internet company has begun offering a service of blocking so-called "exe" files for corporate e-mail systems. MailZone, which announced blocking 100 gigabytes of executable e-mail files, describes the service as a way for employers to prevent employees from downloading and playing games while on the clock. While that alone doesn't have much to do with bowling, in the same article, the folks at MailZone stated that among the top 10 executable attachment files in recent weeks is "elfbowl.exe" in which Santa bowls against elf/pins. This file has been making the circles among bowlers and apparently nonbowlers alike.
