1. Welcome Notes

Welcome to the latest edition of Kegler's Connection.  In this issue, you'll read about bowling's Hall of Fame in jeopardy, who won the megabuck tournaments in Las Vegas, YABA bowlers competing for spots on Junior Team USA , and George talks about staying in practice.
2. Tip of the Week

This week, George discusses staying in practice.

While many people engage in summer leagues to keep their games in shape, many people, for numerous reasons, elect not to bowl at all during the summer. More times than not, upon return to their fall session, they spend the first few weeks seemingly learning to bowl again. However, you can help yourself along during your off time by doing "mental practice".

Simply put, mental practice is visualizing your game. From how you hold the ball in your setup position, the steps you take during your approach, to how you release the ball. The best thing about mental practicing is that it can be done just about anywhere, all you need is an imagination. Imagining yourself throwing good shots will help your mind remember the movements necessary to be able to apply them when the time comes to use your physical skill. This does not limit itself to off season work. Injuries sometimes sideline us, and using this kind of imagining can be very helpful in maintaining the proper conditioning to staying on track.

Whatever your motivations, mental practicing is good for everyone. Give it a try.

Till next week :)
