-ABC/WIBC Certify 6,560 Centers, 130,655 Lanes

      The American Bowling Congress and Women's International Bowling Congress certified 6,560 bowling centers and 130,655 lanes during the 1999-2000 season. This included 6,247 centers and 125,241 lanes in the United States. The numbers were slightly lower than 1998-99 when there were 6,712 overall and 6,398 U.S. centers and 134,152 overall and 128,315 U.S. Lanes.

      United States centers averaged just over 20 lanes per establishment while the overall figure was 19.9. Overall figures include centers in North America, Puerto Rico and U.S. Military bases.

      Pennsylvania had the most centers with 446. New York was next with 437 followed by Wisconsin with 411. New York had the most lanes with 9,421. Ohio was next with 8,881 and Michigan was third with 8,802


-ABC, WIBC, YABA Members Continue Record-setting Award Pace

      American Bowling Congress, Women's International Bowling Congress and Young American Bowling Alliance members again were recognized in record numbers for their achievements in the 1999-2000 season.

      Overall, they earned 41,473 awards for 300 games, 18,000 for 299 games, 6,835 for 298 games and 10,883 for 800 series. All were rolled between Aug. 1, 1999 and July 31, 2000. All were up from 1998-1999 when there were 36,178 300s, 16,094 299s, 6,451 298s and 8,335 800s.

      ABC members by far rolled the most honor scores. They had 39,470 of the 300s, 17,133 of the 299s, 6,498 of the 298s and 10,318 of 800s. WIBC members had 865 of the 300s, 463 of the 299s, 201 of the 298s and 117 of the 800s. YABA members accounted for 1,138, 404, 136 and 248 of the awards, respectively.

      ABC also issued 1999-2000 awards for the following: 27,908 11 strikes in a row, 16,838 triplicates, 5,305 Big Four splits, 5,348 7-10 splits, 58,899 100 pins over average games, 100,563 150 pins over average series, 9,950 all spare games, 7,232 Dutch 200 games, 209,421 700 series, 46,061 senior 75 pins over average games and 35,637 senior 125 pins over average series.

      Other WIBC 1999-2000 awards included 672 11 strikes in a row, 1,945 200 averages, 9,915 triplicates, 1,177 Big Four splits, 682 7-10 splits, 13,556 100 pins over average games, 6,466 275-297 games, 7,339 all spare games, 1,024 Dutch 200 games, 34,605 400 series, 62,795 500 series, 43,149 600 series, 6,378 700 series, 107,801 senior 75 pins over average games and 70,626 senior 125 over average series.

      Among other YABA awards for 1999-2000 were: 496 girls' 700 series, 3,299 triplicates, 339 Big Four splits, 482 7-10 splits, 8,117 100 pins over average game, 532 all spare games and 333 Dutch 200 games.
