Volume 1, Issue 3

With winter leagues finally over, and summer leagues just beginning, I'm finally regrouping myself. In the mean time, consider these random bits about bowling.
The PWBA is off for a few weeks, and the PBA is taking a week off before the Showboat Invitational, here are a few thoughts. In comparing the tour telecasts right now, I think I will really like televised-live-to-the-West-Coast aspect of the PBA Tour once I remember the three-hour time difference. Someone usually has to call and remind me that it's on. But at least it not on a week later. On the other hand, the PWBA Tour is still 90 wonderful minutes, but the several-day delay kills me. By the time it airs, I've found out how every shot will go, yet I watch in awe anyway. Bottom line is: It's bowling, I'm going to watch.
Speaking of the PBA Tour, Parker's strong three-win start to the season has him the leader for Player of the Year considerations. With a televised 300, 290, and 268 games, he's definitely made a case. He also gets the nod for best bowler in a commercial with the "I'm personal friend of Madonna." and "Animals like me." I hope the bowling world does too.
Has anyone noticed that Nickelodeon is infatuated with bowling? A few years ago I remember seeing a "Rugrats" episode with a great playroom scene, but this season it's been "Rocko's Modern Life," "Doug," Kablam!, and you name it shoeing up. While they're not exactly strapping it on, I'd like this over glow bowling to recruit kids to bowling as a sport. I'm waiting on "Ah! Real Monsters" to haunt a center and "Angry Beavers" to do special on "Save real wood lanes!"
Finally, the PBA Tour is making its West Coast swing these next few weeks. Count on me to be there. A week's worth of hero worship for a few bucks. The admission fee the first few days is cheaper than a movie, and certainly cheaper than a ticket to a ball game. Heck if you buy the entire week's pass it's cheaper than going to the ballpark. And if you might just learn something you can take back to your center.
Gotta Split,
Angel
