-Collegiate Bowler Of The Year Joins USA Bowling

1/11/2001 - BowlingFans.com/USA Bowling
Jeff Piroozshad, BowlingFans.com Volunteer Columnist, accepts administration position at USA Bowling in Colorado Springs, Co. Jeff will be taking over the duties of Janet Huss as assistant to the director of coaching, Pat Henry. Janet will be moving into an active position with YABA.

Jeff's primary duty will be working with the Coaching Certification Program. His diverse qualifications for the job include a degree in Engineering and Applied Science from Columbia and Head Coach and co-Captain for the University of Miami bowling team in 1999-2000. He was a level III instructor for the Dick Ritger bowling camps in New York for five years and is also a graduate of the University of Miami School of Law, having passed the Florida State bar exam this past July.

In the 1999-2000 season both the Bowling Writers Association of America and Bowling Digest named Jeff Piroozshad Collegiate Player of the year. He was also named 1st Team All-American and was voted most valuable player by the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association.

Although his collegiate experience has prepared him for a variety of jobs, his passion for the sport helped make his decision to pursue a career with the administration staff of USA Bowling. Quoted from a resent conversation, Jeff says, "I feel fortunate to be given the opportunity to help bring bowling into the next millennium . . . My first love has always been the sport of bowling and I would like nothing more than to be able to give something back to the sport . . . "

USA Bowling is one of the 46 National Governing Bodies recognized by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) for the sports on the programs of the Olympic and Pan American Games. It is responsible for selecting, training and underwriting the full expenses of the team that represents the United States in all international competition (Team USA). It also proudly administers the only coaching certification program recognized by the USOC. The organization is dedicated to enhancing the skill level of all bowlers and coaches and to achieving Olympic medal status.
